Dortmund want Dzeko to replace United target Lewandowski... but plan to pay City £10m less than their £25m valuation

Borussia Dortmund are interested in Manchester City's Edin Dzeko but may struggle to strike a deal for the 26-year-old.

City value Dzeko at around £25m and Dortmund are reluctant to spend above £15m.
The German side are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski who is attracting attention from Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

City's disappointing season in one of the reasons Dzeko is likely to be available. The club are preparing for the restraints anticipated by the impending Financial Fair Play rules and the striker, a £27m signing in 2011, could be sacrificed, particularly as he is far from a regular starter.

Dzeko himself has already insisted he wishes to drop his "super sub" tag, one he has earned in his role as an influential substitute this season. City have already taken a loss on the sale of Mario Balotelli to AC Milan and are reluctant to take another.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, continues to interest United despite manager Sir Alex Ferguson having Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck competing for two striking roles, but Bayern could make him their big summer arrival when Pep Guardiola succeeds Jupp Heynckes as manager.
